Press Release: fischer group introduces new TRUMPF laser blanking technology at its headquarter in Achern.

Achern, February 7, 2023 - The fischer group is reaching another milestone in its long-standing partner-ship with the high-tech company TRUMPF and is one of the first companies in the world to introduce the new TruLaser 8000 Coil Edition laser blanking system at its headquarter in Achern. The newly developed system can completely process up to 25 tons of coiled sheet metal without human intervention. The technology enables a quantum leap in the production of sheet metal and formed blanks in terms of significantly improved material utilization and, at the same time, massive conservation of resources. The main area of application will initially be the manufacture of aluminum blanks for fischer's aluminum hot forming product, business which is also still quite new. This is an innovative process for manufacturing very complex and high-strength aluminum structural components for the automotive industry.
With the new system, fischer is able to take advantage of laser processing materials even for large quantities. "With the TruLaser 8000 Coil Edition, TRUMPF is once again helping its customers to implement the future trend toward more sustainability in manufacturing while at the same time increasing efficiency. Compared to conventional machines for laser cutting, companies can save thousands of tons of raw material and CO2 per year with this solution," says Richard Bannmüller, CEO of TRUMPF Laser Technology Germany.  The TruLaser 8000 Coil Edition enables the fischer group to produce more sustainably and achieve lower cycle times through automation. The fischer group employees can integrate an almost infinite number of components in the coil, which is up to 1.5 kilometers long (~0.93 miles). This results in material saving of up to 15 percent compared to conventional processes. With the help of a robot, the system ensures fast and reliable removal of the sheet metal parts.
The fischer group is thus introducing another important process step for aluminum hot forming technology at its headquarter. This process starts with so-called 2D shaped blanks. In the past, to produce this preliminary product, the aluminum coils first had to be cut from the aluminum rolling mill at an external supplier and then, in a further step, cut into the final shape at another partner. With the new laser blanking system, this time-consuming process sequence is eliminated and the shaped blanks are produced directly from the coil in the highest quality possible on site. This results in significant cost and sustainability improvements!
"For us, the use of a laser blanking system is a unique innovation. The high flexibility and quality of the solution as well as the fact that we hardly need any tools compared to the presses are of great added value for our production," says Hans-Peter Fischer, CEO and owner of the fischer group.
