From a one-man company to a global group with 2700 employees
At the beginning of June the fischer group, which is based in Achern-Fautenbach in Germany's Baden-Württemberg, celebrated its 50th anniversary with customers, business partners and employees. With an annual turnover of around 780 million euros, it is the world's second-largest manufacturer of stainless steel tubes and components. The group comprises 23 companies in Germany, Canada, South Africa, Mexico, the USA, Austria, China, Uruguay and Denmark with a global workforce of around 2700 people. The festivities took place under the motto of "worldwide. family." as a reference to the family corporate culture that company founder Hans Fischer also continues to maintain personally to this day.
Trusting atmosphere
The company founder knew from an early stage that "We're nothing on our own", and from the beginning opted for personal and trust-based togetherness. The resulting working atmosphere consistently spurs all the international subsidiaries on to ever-increasing maximum achievements. So not only was the manufacture of longitudinally welded stainless steel tubes on pipe machines that the company had developed itself continuously perfected, but it also developed more and more sophisticated methods and technologies in pipe processing, such as axial shaping, bending, embossing, stamping, separating, joining, annealing and internal high-pressure forming for the production of increasingly complex forms and components made of exclusive pipes.
50 years of the fischer group
Co-operation between colleagues – not just for the anniversary
Over two days at the beginning of June, the inspiring story of how a one-man operation in Germany's Black Forest became an international group of companies was impressively told during a festive evening for business partners and long-standing companions and at a Family Day for staff and their families. A total of more than 2500 guests gathered in a repurposed production hall and a colorful program presented many details from the company's history in a highly entertaining and amusing way. At the evening celebration, the managing directors of the international subsidiaries then surprised the head of the group with a unique, specially-commissioned stainless steel sculpture of a Möbius strip. Even experienced event professionals such as speaker Angela Julie Wadenpohl were delighted by the genuine warmth and personal closeness of the festivities.
Regional connections, global networks
"The anniversary celebrations clearly demonstrated just what makes the fischer group so special," confirmed Hans-Peter Fischer, son of the founder and managing director of fischer Edelstahlrohre and fischer Rohrtechnik in Achern. His brother Roland, managing director of fischer Maschinentechnik and fischer eco solutions, adds: "When you can see that customers and business partners also feel a part of the 'worldwide. family.' of the fischer group, then you know that you're not only in the lead with your technology."
For over half a century, the Fischer family has been showing how a medium-sized company can successfully maintain the balance between regional connections and global openness on the base of human values. "I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this amazing development over the past 50 years," emphasized Hans Fischer. "None of it would have been possible without your tireless commitment."
